Product Description

Tanaka's largest blower features a 65 cc engine, 850 CFM output, and a side-mounted throttle control switch. Great everyday commercial grade blower that can handle the bigger jobs as well. If you prefer a tube-mounted throttle, check out the TBL-7800R.

On March 1, 1998, Tanaka became the first two-stroke manufacturer to certify to the stringent C.A.R.B. Tier II emissions regulations. While most other manufacturers tried to fight the standard and say that it could not be done with two-stroke, Tanaka did it. Today, all Tanaka products comply with EPA phase 2 regulations and all Tanaka product groups are C.A.R.B Tier II compliant.

Earning Respect

Review Date: January 2, 2010
Reviewer: Alan E. Schmidt, Las Vegas
In one word "DOMINATING". The Tanaka 65cc TBL-7800 has made me king of the cul-de-sac. They now call me the blow king.

Autumn. 2009. My Tanaka 65cc TBL-7800 arrived late in the afternoon. 4:16 p.m. A quick scan of the yards in the cul-de-sac revealed that the trees had left an abundance of prey all over. My adversaries, or as you would call them, my neighbors, were also surveying the battlefield. I locked eyes with my neighbor, Francis, I lowered my brow and gave him a "whats up" head nod. He returned my head nod with a demonic smile. Stupid french. It was on now. Oh Yeah. See you on the battlefield Saturday morning. What do the French know about blowing anyway.

Saturday morning. 6:55 a.m. Garages opened. The gladiators took the field. We sized each other up. Jaws dropped when I turned to the side and they saw the Tanaka 65cc TBL-7800 strapped to my back. Thats right boys. Drink it in. I just brought a semi truck to a demolition derby full of Hyundais. We all spotted the new guy at the same time and smiled. He wore sunglasses instead of ski goggles. HA HA, hope he likes watery eyes.... amateur.

7:00 a.m. Let the battle begin. City ordinance says no blowers before 7. It was like the gates opening at the Kentucky derby. The action started quickly.
New Guy - The TBL-7800 blew the sunglasses clean off his head. As he ran away I blew one of his flip flops off also. Like I said, amateur... Don't come into the wolf den wearing deer antlers, idiot. I took the sunglasses as a trophy. The flip flop ended up on the roof. He can kiss that one goodbye.
Francis - The leaves were flying, hot air burned my skin. I sacked up and plowed forward. I knew he was limited by his extension cord. The end came quickly. He surrendered in less than 2 minutes. Imagine that, the French surrendering quickly. Who would have thought.
I stood in the middle of my leaf free yard like a King. My scepter was the Tanaka 65cc TBL-7800. They lined up to kiss my ring and acknowledge the blow king. All except the new guy. We may have put him in therapy for awhile.

The Tanaka TBL-7800 slayed them all that day. Hands down, the clear winner. I did get a little hot on the back. Wear a good shirt. I wore cut off jeans, tank top, knee high moccasins, and ski goggles. Wanted to look respectful when sporting the TBL-7800. No doubt I did it justice.
Works fine

Works fine. Starts reasonably easily, usually with 4 pulls. However, noisier than expected. Relatively little vibration.

Customer Reviews For Makita BUB182Z 18-Volt LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless Blower (Tool Only)

As handy as a shirt pocket

Review Date: December 22, 2009
Reviewer: Skip L., Colorado
This blower is an excellent addition to Makita's LXT lineup of tools. Like all of the LXT tools, the blower is quite powerful, very rugged, lightweight and well thought out. Its small size and very light weight make it all the more useful and portable. It performs the shop duties of an air blow gun without the need of a compressor and hoses. The variable speed function is invaluable from heavy volume in cleaning out the buildup of dust and chips in tablesaws and planers, to the light "dusting off" needed on shelving and drawers (without blowing away the contents). It is equally as impressive on a job site as in the shop. The ability to clean off all the dust on your clothing from working around heavy sawdust, drywall dust etc. - this alone makes the blower a must have.

It would be hard to justify the purchase of this if it were to be the only LXT tool one were buying, given the fact that a charger and battery together will run $100+. But for someone with other LXT tools, already having a charger and batteries, this is definitely a worthwhile investment. The nozzle of the blower (the long black tube) is made of heavy rubber and detaches with a simple twist. This flexible nozzle can readily be flexed (bent) to point the blower into hard to reach areas. The simple "twist to remove" breaks the blower down to ultimate portability. It would almost fit in a toolbox! LXT batteries give it plenty of power and runtime; much more than one would anticipate from a battery powered device.

As far as the vacuum functionality, the nozzle is simply removed from the blower port and twisted onto the air intake port. Then a collection bag (not supplied with blower) is attached to the output to collect the vacuumed debris. However, I found this configuration to be too awkward to be really useful. I did purchase a bag, approx. $16, from a tool supply house, but am not impressed with transforming this into a vacuum. It would do in a pinch, but certainly not something I could make a habit of. The cloth bag is identical to one found on a Makita belt sander, plate joiner or similar device. If you want one, do an internet search for Makita #122321-1; that is the part number of the dust collection bag. Better yet, Makita has just introduced a new 18v LXT vacuum, quite similar to a dustbuster; the Makita BCL180ZW. I don't have one yet, but am ordering one. It should prove to be another "must have" addition to the LXT tool bag.

For heavy yard usage and constant leaf blowing, a larger electric or gas blower would be more appropriate. But for the other 90% of the time where a portable blower would fit the bill, this Makita is as handy as a shirt pocket.

We still use the Makita LXT Blower on a (almost) daily basis. My wife loves to use it to blow off the steps in our garage. It is the useful rechargeable tool we have ever purchased.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was somewhat skeptical when I ordered the Makita LXT Blower. I was worried that my 1.5aH battery would not fit or even if it did it wouldn't power the blower. I was also worried that even at full power that something this small wouldn't be up to the job - mainly blowing out my garage and cleaning the grass of my sidewalk.

The Answers -

- While the 1.5aH battery is not optimal (although I do have two from my Makita LCT300W 18-Volt Compact Lithium-Ion Cordless 3-Piece Combo Kit set), but it does work well enough. The main issue is that the battery life is about 3-5 minutes on the blower's highest setting. However, 4 minutes will blow a lot of grass off of your sidewalks).

- Plenty of power - IF you are blowing on smooth surfaces. If you are planning to use this to blow your leaves into a giant pile you will be disappointed.

- Ultra light - less than 5lbs

- Pull-the-trigger easy - this is what really attracted me to the Makita LXT Blower since about 75% of my clean-up jobs are simple and do not require my gas powered blower. It is great to have the option to grab a light-weight blower and have the job done within a couple of minutes.

- The Makita blower can be converted into a vacuum - but the attachment is NOT included. I was puzzled for a few minutes as I looked for the dust collecting attachment. This is my only complaint, why didn't Makita just include the dust collector?

Final Verdict - I really couldn't be happier. I may eventually buy a Makita BL1830 18v (3.0ah) Lithium-Ion Battery but until then I will be perfectly happy with my current set-up.

My favorite tool--ever!

I had no idea this blower would be as compact as it is. I love the size and weight. The convenience far outweighs the need to recharge the lithium-ion battery--which is simple and fast. I clean my patios, walkways, driveway, and yes, I have trees everyplace, including an arbor. This little Makita far surpasses my expectations. I've also been using it to remove dust from my cars; and, it's great at a lower speed inside the house (try it on books.) Because of the ease of this tool, I use it all the time and on things I would not have considered in the past.

Product Description

Leaving nothing behind for the rake to gather, Black & Decker’s LeafHog blower snorts out a whopping 230-mph blow-speed for rooting up wet, matted leaves, heavy piles of debris, and more. That’s right. That stubborn windrow of leaves hunkered down next to the fence line is no match for the LeafHog. Like a handheld hurricane, this baby keeps the leaves blowing fast, even as they pile up high against the friction of the fence line and in those down-sloping corners of the yard. No more scooping debris into awkward garbage bags either, this blower converts to a vacuum with the push of a button. An easy-empty bag design dumps mulched leaves quickly. And, an anti-clog mechanism resists clogging during mulching operations. Knowing that most blowers are so loud they overpower earplugs and cause headaches on extended jobs, Black & Decker hushed down the LeafHog with a low-noise design that operates at a maximum of 66 decibels. Ideal for clearing lawns, driveways, sidewalks, decks, and garages of leaves, grass clippings, and other debris, this blower also features a 10-to-1 mulch ratio that, for example, reduces 10 bags of raked leaves down to 1 bag of mulch for healthier lawns and gardens. Black & Decker covers this blower with a full, 2-year warranty. --Brian D. Olson

Going Green With Push Reel Lawn Mowers
icon1 admin | icon2 Leaf Blower Articles | icon4 10 10th, 2009| icon3Comments Off

The national average price of gasoline at more than $ 4 per gallon, it's no wonder people try to come with ways to save money on gas. One of the main trends in the U.S. is now switching from gas mowers to good, old-fashioned push-reel mower. Manual lawn mowers numerous advantages over gas mowers offer, especially in relation to their impact on the environment. These mowers have come a long way from your Grandpa's Push Reel Mower.

Modern push mowers are reeleasier than it used to be and move easily. You can also include features such as easy to set cutting heights, grass catcher and sharpening kits. To do Unlike gas mowers, they do not eat the money from the wallet with high gas prices, and are generally cheaper than gas mowers, in the first place. They also make no noise, such as gas mowers, which your neighbors thank you when you mow in the early morning hours or in the middle of her family barbecue on Sunday asAfternoon. To do, unlike most electric mowers, it does not mean that any kind of strings, which saves you the trouble of remembering to plug it in

Gas lawn mowers cause of air pollution. You spit a variety of things such as carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides. This type of pollutants on the ozone, and may have an adverse effect on our health. This alone is a good reason to switch to a push reel mower, as they more and more important for people to use environmentally friendly green productsand practices.

In addition to the environmental advantages to reel mowers, there are also advantages for your lawn. Gas mowers cut grass with a jagged edge, while reel mowers have a clean cut. Jagged edges mean that your lawn will be more susceptible to disease and moisture loss. You will have a healthier lawn with a push reel motor, and may even become the envy of the neighborhood.

Although today’s push reel mowers are much easier to use than in he past, an added benefit is that You just have to work a little harder than if you use a self-mower that stands on your heart rate driven (and yes, the count does your training time).

So, whatever your motivation is for viewing in push-reel mower, there are clear benefits to them. Who knows? You can learn that while the environment are active, you can help (your lawn and yourself) healthy.
