Hang on to Toto when you fire this baby up--the air blast out of this blower is phenomenal! The literature says it produces up to a 215 mph current, and they're not kidding. It converts in a few seconds to a vacuum by removing the inlet tube and cover; just hook the front of the vacuum tube on and snap. Attach the generous bag and you're ready to pick up the mountain of leaves you've blown. As it vacuums, the fan impeller will mulch the leaves down, too, reducing 10 bags to 1. We like the ergonomic handle and the comfortable strap. The tubes are sturdy and won't crack if you accidentally whack them. It's a light unit at 7.3 pounds, and it's not nearly as loud as most, though at 69 decibels, you'll still want to wear ear protection. Bravo, Toro! --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

After raking for years I finally broke down and purchased a blower Vac. I have always hated the sound of theses things and they always have seemed inadequate. Not this one. While calling it quiet would be far from the truth, it is less annoying than others my neighbors use. The Blower was fantastic, almost too strong in some areas, although it does have two speed settings. After blowing my leaves into a Huge pile I set up the Vac attachment and was moderately pleased with the results. Don't expect to walk around your yard and suck all of the leaves up with this tool, even the big truck mounted suckers don't work like that. You need to feed this thing, and watch out for sticks. I found that it did indeed mulch the leaves into a 5 to 1 ratio, pretty good in my opinion. And when the occasional green stick got caught up in the impeller it was a synch to get it out. Overall I rate this as a great buy!

I have been using this blower vac for a few months now and am really shocked by how well it works. I was a bit skeptical at first, but the blower changes very easily into a vacuum and vice versa. I use it to blow leaves into a pile then suck them up to use on my garden as mulch, bye bye leaves and bye bye weeds in my garden. The job of raking and sweeping leaves that used to take me hours, now only takes minutes. I can blow down my patio, suck up all the leaves and have the place looking great ten minutes before guests arrive. If you are like me and have a great backyard that you entertain in then pick this baby up and cut your work time by 50%! Get yourself a long extension cord with this purchase also. The noise and pollution of this blower/vac is virtually non existent. I was shocked by how low the noise level was. I use the low setting for around other garden plants and when i really need the power switch it to high. Like another reviewer i had a small delay in shipping but it was worth the wait!

I have waited to write this until I could give it a really good test. My Norway maple tree has just dropped the season's first load of golden leaves, and a light rain had made them damp where they fell. With the new Toro Super Blower/Vac I was able to easily move them around, corral them, and even dry them off somewhat in the process. The flat blower nozzle tapers to a small opening that provides such a strong blast of air, even at the lower motor speed, that leaves can be moved from fifteen feet away. The ergonomically perfect handle allows the blower to be held comfortably at any angle to the ground. I found it could be balancd perfectly with my arm straight down by my side and the blower low and parallel to the ground. That position directs the blast a maximum distance for herding leaves. Next I performed the quick and easy changeover to vacuum operation (no tools required). I used the higher motor speed and in a few minutes those leaves were chopped, in the bag, and ready for transfer directly to the compost bin. The vacuuming was very easy, too. Extra handles are provided so that the tool can be comfortably balanced. The bag has a long zipper the full length on one side for easy dumping and for turning the bag inside out for drying. For sixteen years I have been using my Paramount PB 350 Blower/Vac and with much hard use if has proved durable. However, today's test has shown the Toro to be definitely superior.
Great value for a very useful tool in a small yard

I wish I'd bought this Toro several months ago. We have a small yard in San Diego. Our next door neighbor has a huge ficus tree that sheds a lot of leaves in our yard. We already have 20 or so bags of debris stacked on the side of the house. I tried this blower out for the first time yesterday. In low power mode, it was able to push the leaves out of a cedar-chipped area without distuburbing the cedar chips too much. It's noisy, but not so noisy that you need ear protection. The vacuum mulcher seems to work well so far. Low power suction doesn't pull in too much, but high power works well. For a really large amount of leaves, it would probably be easier to rake, but for our small California yard it's perfect. I was concerned about the plastic impeller being able to handle all pea-sized seeds among the leaves, but so far so good. I'm not sure if the compression is really 10-to-1, but it definitely makes a difference. I haven't tried it with wet leaves, but in San Diego the leaves aren't wet very often so that's not a concern. The unit was easy to set up out of the box, and easy to switch back and forth between modes.

Amazon is great. I received the second day with free super saver shipping.
Well, I don't work for Toro...
It was simply great and it doesn't need any more review as it already has. I just want to reconfirm what others did.
Vaccum:
It has two speeds 1 and 2. It mulches even small twigs, provided they are dry. Rule of thumb is "If it can suck it, it will click it" provided it's on speed 1. Speed 2 is too fast and sucks everything in the way. Well it can't be a con.
The handle is very suitable. If used properly it's very convenient
Bag is pretty big and it mulches pretty good reducing my number of bags. I didn't have to cally it to my shoulder. I just let it hang and it was great.
Blower:
Nope! No need any intro. Simply great! I put it to work the first day I received. It didn't have any problem digging leaves from last season and earlier.
Good Luck! |
